If you find yourself in Odenton, MD, do not miss out on The Hideaway, a local barbecue gem that transforms casual dining into a succulent feast. Nestled at 1439 Odenton Rd, this beloved eatery invites you to savor the authentic flavors of barbecue done right, in a setting that feels like a secret hideout just waiting to be discovered.

The menu boasts a mouthwatering selection of dishes that will leave your taste buds dancing. Start off with their Award Winning Wings. These are no ordinary wings; they’re dry-rubbed with a proprietary blend of seasonings, smoked over fragrant pecan wood for three hours, and then flash-fried to crispy perfection. Each bite encapsulates a burst of flavor that fans rave about—it's no wonder they are a signature favorite.

For crab lovers, you can't go wrong with the Chesapeake Crab Dip, a creamy concoction combining backfin blue crab meat with three cheeses and a hint of Old Bay, served alongside a fresh baguette. It's the kind of dish that could make any Marylander proud.

And let’s not forget about dessert. Treat yourself to the Alabama Stack Cake, a rich chocolate lover’s dream layered with creamy mousse, chocolate crunchies, and a heavenly drizzle of caramel sauce. Or opt for the Feuilletine, those delightful crispy bits that offer a textural contrast that’s utterly irresistible.

The ambiance at The Hideaway adds to its charm. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, the restaurant provides a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for families, friends, or an intimate dinner. While the vibe can lean towards the casual side, it feels like a community hub where locals gather for good food, drinks, and spirited sports viewings. Customers appreciate the accessibility features, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a meal in comfort.

However, some patrons have shared varied feedback on specific dishes. A review from Ciara Childs highlighted the tender ribs, while others felt that certain items lacked standout qualities. Nevertheless, the consensus remains that The Hideaway is a place worth visiting, backed by friendly service that makes diners feel right at home.

Along with delicious food, the restaurant's offerings make it a treasure for those seeking hearty, flavorful dishes. Whether you're a barbecue aficionado or simply looking to indulge in some delightful southern cuisine, The Hideaway is more than ready to welcome you with open arms.

Good bbq sauces. Really liked the habanero kiss. Had the pulled pork. It was GOOD. Got my sides wrong, but no other complaints.

April 2025, located a local BQ restaurant that's truly hidden and around the corner from Fort Meade. Went on a Sunday, and it was very crowded, with mostly groups and their children. Some of the food items I requested weren't available due to the brunch menu being effective. The staff stated that around 2 p.m., the items we desired would be available. However, we still ordered nearly everything we wanted. The ribs were delicious, and everything else was good. 4 stars.

Their reputation for quality is well-deserved. The mac and cheese was soooo good! It was creamy and cheesy. Some of the best Mac and cheese I’ve had at a restaurant. The mashed potatoes and gravy were excellent as well. The pulled pork was good but not as moist and juicy as the wings. All is the sauces were excellent. I used all of them for my pulled pork. None of the sauces were overly spicy. The wings were perfectly cooked and seasoned. They were tender and juicy. They were exactly as wings should be! And last but not least, our waitress was very efficient, attentive and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place. They had plenty of food options as well in case you have a picky eater in our family. The food was also priced fairly. My husband and I loved this place.

It's a big hideaway. Probably a great place for locals, beers and sports. The atmosphere was a little dark but I went at night. My only issue was the quality of the food. The BBQ brisket sandwich was very just ok. The coleslaw side was a thumbnail and the crab fries were packed with too much cream. I'd prefer crab solo at that point. But that was more generous than the brisket amount. I was starving so I ate it. The chocolate cake was exceptional. Real mouse construction. Absolutely decadent and must have with coffee. If they cook up the coffee at that hour. The service was very good. Super nice female bartender. It's just ok. But that cake is in my mind.

Being born and raised in the South, I know BBQ - trust that. Now I'm not saying it equates to the "Best BBQ I've Ever Had", but it is a runner up. Based on my recent couple of visits, the ribs were flavorful (even without sauce), tender, and moist, Mac & Cheese, collard greens, & pecan pie are alright to good. However, I'd pass on the green beans - theirs isn't the typical cooked down southern recipe rather a raw, healthy version. The customer service is consistently great. Restaurant interior has a homey atmosphere like that of a backwoods shack. Parking is limited given their popularity unless one goes on an unpopular day/ time. I have yet to try their bar.

The atmosphere was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The wings were amazing—meaty and perfectly cooked, not hard at all. We devoured two portions of the cornbread and left stuffed. The baked beans were tasty, though not particularly unique. I wasn’t a fan of the mac and cheese, but everything else was excellent. I’ll definitely be back!

Very cute local bar/ restaurant. Great location for getting away from crowds. Servers were great. Food was just okay. Nothing really stood out for me. Ordered 3 apps and a entree. Again good experience but nothing special.
